Our Mission is to bring comfort and a grief roadmap into the everyday life of the American mourner.
Social Relevance
Our culture needs foundations for healthy grieving. Today many mourners are being thrust into the work force much sooner than in generations past. Since we no longer have the luxury of time to grieve before returning to the demands of life, we must find creative ways to work through our emotions so we can go forward in healthy ways.
During her clinical practice, Dr. Anne Black observed far too many people whose vital life force was being drained due to unresolved grief. Silenced stories and unexpressed feelings require a lot of energy to hold in the body. Many people today live such busy lives that they are choosing to push their feelings of loss into an emotional "holding tank." Using life force energy in this way interferes with investing it in the joy of living. No wonder we are witnessing pandemic dis-ease in the lives of so many Americans.
This is why Dr. Black established Comfort Baskets--to bring active, healing resources and a grief roadmap into the everyday life of the American mourner. Comfort Baskets give comfort and provide healing "coaching tools" to encourage those experiencing a loss to take time for themselves-to make the journey through grief a little easier. Grief will not go away by ignoring it. Nor will people stay healthy without giving the energy (the feelings of grief) ways to be released. Comfort Baskets have been sensitively designed to be "user-gentle" and to create a safe healing context. As we embrace our wellness, life can be enjoyed with greater vitality.
Comfort Baskets, Incorporated is a member of Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility and provides meaningful jobs for disabled workers through the Vermont Department of Industrial Workers.
