This book list was compiled and is recommended by Dr. Anne Black. If we were able to find a description and/or a way to order these books on-line, they are linked. The rest of the books are still in print and available from your public library or local bookstore.
We also have found most of these book on amazon.com. You may also be able to find them on other major book sellers sites such as barnesandnobel.com and borders.com, as well as independent sites. However we prefer amazon's cross-refrencing cababilities and have linked to them when possible.

A
Few Words to a Caring Adult Wanting to Support a Grieving Child
| The greatest gift you can offer a child whose loved one died is to give him or her permission to feel and express the emotions of grief - fear, sadness, anger and love. Remember: you do NOT have to have all the answers to the mysteries of life. Validate the child's story (unless there are inaccurate facts - which you will want to gently correct); encourage the child to draw pictures, write letters or poetry; and create safety for them to release feelings of anger and/or sadness, while honoring their grief process. Children can go in and out of grief very quickly. One minute they may be crying and the next minute inquiring what's for dessert.Ê Learn to just go with the child's flow. | |
